Curriculum/Activities

Infants - 6 weeks - 12 months
Our program supports parents as they encounter their child's first experiences in child care. Caregivers will provide a safe, clean and nurturing environment in which each baby receives tender love and affection. At the same time, caregivers provide parents with a daily sheet documenting feedings, diaper changing, length and number of naps and general mood. Also, our active play area provides age appropriate toys that stimulate both cognitive and social development.

Young Toddlers - 12 months - 24 months
Our program emphasizes learning areas based on the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood. These areas include: creative expression, cognitive, social and emotional development, communication and literacy, science, math and block play. Large and small motor activities also take place weekly, both indoors and outdoors. Also, parents will receive weekly thematic lesson plans as well as daily sheets that specify details surrounding each child's day.

Older Toddlers - 24 months - 36 months
Children will begin a more structured environment. During their day the focus will continue to be on each child's independent skills which include eating, dresssing, toileting and cleaning up. Toileting will be fostered only when the child is ready and with gentle guidance from the providers. Colors, shapes, numbers and learning the alphabet are worked into the structure of each child's daily routine, as well as learning about self-control, center rules and boundaries.

Young Preschoolers - 36 months - 48 months
Our program focuses on the following areas based on the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood: Approaches to learning, creative arts, personal-social development, social studies, program partnerships, language and literacy, science and mathematics. Children will continue to be stimulated in their daily experiences. Responsibility and ownership will also be a priority. Each week, a different theme becomes the main focus as each child begins to become familiar with the world around them.

Preschool - 48 months - 60 months
Program stresses areas based on the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood while at the same time focusing on developing independence, readiness for school (verbal and written) and group or project work. Our providers work closely with staff in the Red Lion Area School District to ensure a successful and smooth transition into Kindergarten. Parents are given monthly newsletters, as well as weekly lesson plans, that specify details surrounding themed activities and events. Parents are also given daily sheets that describe each child's day.
